Mike Huckabee Slammed By Rush Limbaugh

December 23, 2007

The Facts

Rush Limbaugh has made it clear that he doesn’t like Mike Huckabee. In response to a question on why, one of Huckabee’s allies expressed his take on the reason a few days ago and Limbaugh didn’t appreciate it too much. Huckabee’s man said “Honestly, because Rush doesn’t think for himself. That’s not necessarily a slap because he’s not paid to be a thinker-he’s an entertainer. I can’t remember the last time that he has veered from the talking points from the DC/Manhattan chattering class. If they were praising Huckabee, he would be too.”

My View

The saddest part of the story here is that people actually listen to Limbaugh. Even worse, many of them take him serious. For a moment, loose your biases and imagine a world designed by him. No one but Limbaugh’s would be in it. Scary, isn’t it.

Over the past few days I have posted some positive things about Mike Huckabee. If you’ve read any of them, you know the reasons the extremist right like Limbaugh does not want Huckabee as their nominee. In my 35 years of closely watching Presidential campaigns, I don’t recall a party so against one of its own. The extremist know they have gained a lot of ground over the past seven years with Cheney/Bush in the White House and they do not want to loose that gain. While Huckabee has the basic principles that the Republican Party believes in, he knows that extremism and dishonesty is not the direction to take this country. He knows that is exactly what has divided this country to the point it has. Both parties can take credit for that extremism, but the current administration has done it better than anyone.

Another reason Huckabee is not popular with his own party is that he has honestly criticized certain policies of both the party and Cheney/Bush. By being honest, truthful and speaking out in what he believes in, he is being punished. So think about this for a moment; do you want a government that will punish you if you disagree with them? Lets see now, where have I seen that kind of government before; Hitler’s Germany, Lenin’s Russia, Chiang Kai-shek’s China.
