The Facts
Hillary Clinton has fired her campaign manager, Solis Doyle, and replaced her with Maggie Williams. In addition, she has obviously told her husband, Bill Clinton, to tone down his defense of her.
My View
I am not a political campaign expert by any means, but I rather doubt that Hillary Clinton’s old campaign manager is responsible for her stunning lose over the weekend. There are plenty of reasons why she didn’t do well, most of which none of the news media will talk about. But the one the media will talk about is that the voters are not as taken with her as they once were. The other reason is two-fold; Barack Obama is appealing to the younger generation, and more blacks are turning out to vote more than anytime in our history, and most of them are voting for Obama. Make of that any thing you will, but it is true. It’s not as if the Clinton’s have never supported the black people in their deserved endeavors, because they have. They have done more for the black population than anyone since Lyndon B. Johnson. But they are now turning to Barack Obama.
Concerning asking her husband to tone down his defense of her, I am in agreement with that strategy. However, the reason people are turned off with his defending Hillary is absolutely absurd. It is the same reason the majority of people think Bill Clinton was a terrible president; he has a sexual escapade with Monica Lewinsky.
The fact that Bill Clinton had a sexual encounter with Lewinsky and with several other women makes him a terrible moral person. However, it did not make him a “terrible” President. In fact, under Clinton we had a very low unemployment rate, whereas under George Bush the unemployment rate has soared. Also, the Clinton administration left a huge surplus of tax money, and under Bush our deficient has soared, even without the Iraq war. Add to that the many other things that Clinton did as President that helped the country, and he doesn’t look bad at all. As a matter of a fact, many moderate Republicans will tell you that businesses actually did very well under the Clinton administration. But what does everyone remember and talk about; his sexual abuses. It’s a pretty sad population we have when we can not separate the two.
